Rose Show Planned For April Meeting

Rose Society of Tucson

April 2018 Program

Let’s Show Off Our Spring Blooms

Everyone can participate in our April program.  We’re having a Spring Rose Show!

So here’s how it will work.

ARS Certified Judges LeRoy Brady, Helen Baird and Marylou Coffman from the Mesa/East Valley Rose Society will be our judges and discuss all the entries with us as they judge each classification.

Having these celebrity judges means that every member of the Rose Society of Tucson can exhibit roses. LeRoy, Helen and Marylou will not only explain how roses are judged but also discuss how each variety thrives in the desert.

Of course, they will answer your questions throughout.

Bring Your Roses To The Meeting

  • Entries may begin at 6:00 p.m.
  • Bring as many roses as you like.
  • Cut the stems as long as reasonably possible and do not remove any leaves.
  • Keep your roses fresh. Bring them in water—a bucket or container.

The Rose Society Will Provide

  • Vases to display each rose separately.
  • Water for vases.
  • Entry tags for you to fill out, providing:
    • Name of each rose
    • Classification 1 – 4 (see below) If you are not sure of classification, we will help you with that.
    • Your name.

The Fun Begins

  • Judging will begin at 7:15 p.m.
  • Once all roses have been entered, our judges will discuss each entry.  They will explain what ARS judges are looking for—form, freshness, color, etc. and answer your questions.

Special Recognition For The Winners!

  • Winners of each of the 4 classifications will be photographed with their entry for publication in the May Thrip Hater.
  • Best of Show winner will receive a 10 pound bag of Miller’s Rose Food.
